Specialist School

Over the last few months, I’ve been helping another mum try to secure a specialist secondary school for her autistic daughter next September. Sadly it has not turned out as hoped. She did everything right – got the phase transition review done promptly, did her own research with schools, and understands the legal rights her daughter has. The school she wanted has said it’s the right place for her daughter, but they have no spaces left for next year.

Memories of Storm Babet

So tomorrow is forecast to be moderate wind and rain across East Anglia. That’s what the Met Office said 2 years and 2 days ago, when Storm Babet hit. It sat stuck over our part of the country for several hours, causing horrific flooding. The nearby towns of Debenham and Framlingham were several feet under water, children were rescued from school in tractors and many homes were severely damaged that awful day. I know families who are still waiting for their insurers to pay out and some have not been able to go home yet.

The Final Countdown

Looking forward to half-term next week. It’s been a long 7 and a half weeks and I really need a break. I find myself feeling anxious about driving a lot, plus the nights are drawing in and it’s getting noticeably colder.
