Black Friday Deals & Christmas Planning

I’ve been incredibly lazy this week. My weight loss has slowed down, though I’m still making progress. The cold is largely to blame – my cosy heated blanket beckons any time I try to get on with stuff.

The end of last week we finally got some work done and that means money! All accounted for sadly, but I did leave some funds available for Black Friday deals. I’ve been waiting for a couple of apps to go on sale, and some WordPress plugins for work. Disappointingly, some of them didn’t do any kind of sale, so I’ll have to hold off upgrading for a bit longer.

I managed to finally buy some Christmas presents, including the (expensive!) main joint gift for my boys. I saved about 15% on the retail price which was very welcome AND I got it on my catalogue account meaning I don’t have to actually pay for it this side of Christmas. Also got some smaller bits and bobs and a couple of things for friends as well.

Next week, I’ll start looking for things in earnest. My eldest is particularly hard to buy for and hasn’t given me any clues as to what he wants. This happens every birthday/Christmas and husband and I usually come up with something at the last minute, so I hope we’re lucky again this year or he’s going to be rather disappointed with a set of maths flashcards and a pack of boxers! 😀

Husband is a bit of a nightmare to buy for too. Being diabetic, I can no longer give him the easy offerings of sweets and booze. Like the children, he’s not into typically man stuff like football or cars (for which I’m very grateful), though he is nerdy like me and loves his sci-fi. At least he makes the effort to compose a gift list, so I do have some options.

My youngest is easily pleased. If it involves maths, books or toilet humour then he’s happy. At the moment, he’s obsessed with a game called WobbleDogs and delights in talking about it every waking minute. I hope the (tiny) plush we’ve ordered from China gets here in time, I think he’ll love it!

I’ll need to book our grocery shop soon, but we’ve managed to get Christmas pudding sorted. There’s a vegan biscoff cheesecake available from Costa that I absolutely love, and husband managed to buy me a whole one for my birthday a few years back. Since then, we’ve found the company that makes it and they do a whole range of delicious flavours. They’ve got a sale this Black Friday, so we’ve ordered two different cakes – they’re freezable, so will last over Christmas.

This afternoon, we’ll put the tree up. I’ve been trying to figure out where to put it this year as the living room seems to be stuffed with furniture. I’m sure I’ll find somewhere to shove it.

Nothing to report on for the rest of this week really. Took mum to physio and we had lunch at a nearby cafe. I had eggs florentine with avocado, but regretted it as the spinach was too overpowering and all I could taste. Wish I had the eggs benedict instead. The pudding, however, was VERY tasty, and I had enough to take home for seconds later.

We had a couple of other cheeky lunches this week, highlights were a sausage, cheese and chutney panini and a butter cookie pecan latte!

I’ll post again when the tree is done and we’re feeling a bit more Christmassy. See you in December!
