I’m Becky, a wife and mother of two boys, living in the lovely British countryside while running a (very) small art business with my husband (P) but also having to rely on the benefits system since covid knocked us pretty hard. I lean strongly progressive/left but have no interest in writing about politics – I’m doing this blog to avoid stress, not create it.
My youngest son (11) has autism and has just started at a specialist high school, so you’ll probably find a focus on that with my posts. My eldest son (15) has been referred for assessment too, just as he’s about to finish high school. Could be an interesting few months!
I have an eclectic range of hobbies, and can develop/abandon interests quite suddenly, so expect this blog to be a mish-mash of whatever’s going on in my head at the time of writing. I’ve come to realise I’m probably autistic myself and there’s undoubtedly a bit of ADHD in there too!
We have 2 British Shorthair cats, 3 bantam chickens and a Greek Spur-Thighed Tortoise.
History
I’ve been online since 1995, designing websites since 1999 and blogging on my own domains since 2001, using Blogger, LiveJournal, GreyMatter and WordPress. Prior to that, I had Geocities and Tumblr accounts. I’ve owned a few fan listings, ran a successful fan forum from 2007-2010 and have moderated several online communities covering various topics.
Like many of my generation, I migrated from using a personal blog to social media, but have decided to return to a decentralised online presence. You can find me on Mastodon, which is the only social I now routinely post on.
Online Goddess
This website is created with WordPress, a platform I’m very familiar with and I host with a small UK company called Clook. I’ve owned this domain since 2007.
The site uses the Blocksy theme (highly customised by myself) with legible serif typography.
I’m privacy conscious and use a lovely little German company called Pirsch to collect simple visitor statistics – they are fully GDPR compliant and do not gather personally identifiable information. I’ve made the statistics public and you can view them right here.
