The new Parrot Tower arrived this morning and by Heavens, it’s a monster! It is very nice though, and Monty seems to be appreciative of it already. The other birds are not so sure – Rosie (as always) is terrified of the shiny new object, and Egg would just rather sit on P’s shoulder. We went for the more expensive one as it currently has a discount of £40. I will upload some piccies shortly, so keep an eye on the gallery.

In some sad news, Boris passed away on Friday. It looks like metabolic bone disease. We were feeding him properly, but it seems that he should have had a UVB light to aid the processing of essential vitamins. Nowhere in any literature does it say this is necessary, in fact many so-called experienced keepers say you don’t need a light in the tank at all. It just goes to show that you really shouldn’t believe everything you read online, even if many people agree. I wish we had spoken to a vet earlier, we might have been able to prevent this if we’d known from the start.

Rest in peace Boris. I shall miss your big smile and your croaking in the night. 🙁
