I’ve just spent the evening setting up WordPress. I’m tired of Blogger taking forever to publish my files and wasn’t happy with the comments setup either. Why on earth are you allowed to customise your template, but not the comments page? It was really irking me, gah! Plus, I’m always a little uncomfortable using third-party services, you never know if they’re going to stop working or force unwanted changes on you.
In addition to that, I’ve also decided to switch hosting companies. The one I’m currently using was completely offline for some time yesterday evening and showed signs of doing it again today. No HTTP, FTP, MySQL or POP services were running at all. To add to my irritation, they had a notice on their homepage saying their site was down for maintenance but no customer websites were affected. Good customer service can usually pull me back from dumping a service, but they don’t even appear to have that!
So, I’ll be off to the far superior (although rather more expensive) services of Clook who I have used for many years previously. The only reason I didn’t go with them straight away was because I didn’t want to spend too much money hosting my little blog. Guess I’ve learned a good lesson now….
Anyway, if you find that the site is down sometime over the next couple of days, wait a little while for the DNS to get sorted and we’ll be back in business. Also, do let me know if anything on the site isn’t working or acts a bit funny. I’ve ported my template across, but I imagine there will be a few things I’ve missed. 🙂
