More Hosting Woes

I’m in a bad mood! After all the cock-ups my host has been making this weekend, they have now sent me an email stating that I am on the “home” account, not the “home pro” account that I was promised in the original email.

What does this mean for DC? Well, my main loss is the sub-domains. The “home” account does not allow any. Which means I will have to inform my hostees that I can’t actually host them after all. I’m pretty pissed at this, because I’ve wanted to offer hosting for so long. I’ve also only got half as much webspace and I have to pay to be upgraded to their envisage system, which offers PHP. I was told in the original email that this would be free.

I’m gonna get P to call and shout at them when he gets home. Should only be about half an hour. Check back soon to find out what happens.

Problem finally resolved – we’re going to upgrade our package to “home pro” and pay the larger amount. There was no way FastHosts were going to honour the original offer so…

Everything goes live tomorrow, so you may find that DC is down for a few hours. Then I can get on with things as normal. Phew.

P has his physio in the morning and it may be the last time – next week he’s got another assessment to see if he needs to continue attending. I can’t believe that something that happened last September is still affecting us, it’s so amazing that dislocating your knee can need so much work to repair. I still remember when it happened, how I thought he’d be off work for a few days, lol. Officially, he was supposed to have taken sick leave for twelve weeks, and the physio is only now coming to an end.

Seems like so long ago.
