New Message Board

Good afternoon everyone! It’s a miserable Saturday and I’ve been fiddling with a new message-board for the site.

On past websites I’ve used Ikonboard, which is a fantastic free board system that you host on your own server and can customize to your heart’s content. The only problem is, I don’t get a great deal of visitors :(. And the majority of people that do visit don’t bloody say anything!

Okay….. so it’s too much hassle to register and login yada yada yada. So I decided to look into those message-board/chat things that you put on your page. The first one I came across was called Shoutbox. This was all very nice, no ads, fully customisable etc. Except that it didn’t work (which isn’t terribly useful now, is it). Possibly something to do with my host and PHP capabilities.

So. onto the next one – Tag-Board. At first, I wasn’t to keen because it’s quite chunky and you have to pay for better customisation. After fiddling with it though, I realised it is actually quite nice. Cue my nice new board in the middle there >.

I liked it so much, actually, that I decided to upgrade to enhanced. Unfortunately, PayPal had some sort of problem during the transaction, charged my card but didn’t pass the details onto Tag-Board. So I had to write to them and hopefully they’ll get back to me soon.

Talking of PayPal, are they crap or what! They have the most complicated sign-up procedure and don’t let you withdraw money from UK bank accounts, even though you can put money in! And if you forget your password, you have to go through a right palava to get a new one!
Grrrr…….

I must do some studying today. Yesterday I went to Staples and bought lots of stationery. If I don’t get off my backside and get on with it, the weekend will disappear and I’ll have bugger all to show for it.

Someone called Michelle signed my guestbook a couple of days ago and I just checked out her site. She’s commented on my cow! Here’s what she wrote:

Another thing I thought about the other day when I visited the blog of somebody I now don’t remember anymore. She had a funny cow on her page that ate pills, and I thought – that would be a cool idea for my DEMEROL-page, because it’s related to painkillers then. I just loved that cow. When you rolled over it it made “moooo.” LOL, but that was not all that I read. I also went to her diary and she wrote she had been diagnosed of social phobia, like being afraid of being confronted with new people or talking in front of people and so on. That kind of people also stay more and more at home and try to avoid contact to people. It was very interesting to read.

Hey, I’m really chuffed! Isn’t that nice?
