Friday Five

The week seems to have gone pretty fast, I can’t believe it’s Friday again already.

I did quite a bit of studying today and managed to do 4 assignments. If I try and do 2 assignments a week I should be way ahead of the dates for completion.

Just had a quick peek in the nestbox. I can confirm that there are definitely three baby Kakariki’s inside. And my, they’re growing fast! Last time I looked, I could only see two and they just looked like small lumps of feather-down. Today, they were much bigger and all three were easily definable. Their cute little heads were raised to the sky and they were cheeping away for mum to bring them food! Oh, yes, they’re also getting very noisy! 😀 I’m gonna get P to get a photo of them and I’ll post it here.

Well then, here’s the Friday Five, before I have to go make a cuppa for my darling.

Were you raised in a particular religious faith?

Christian. Not strictly so, but it was always clear that my family believed in that way of life. My grandmother was a strict Christian and I had a few disagreements with her, especially during my teens!

Do you still practice that faith? Why or why not?

I still believe in Christian values, but I see myself as more of a Buddhist now.

What do you think happens after death?

I believe that, depending on if we have learnt our lessons in life, we go on to a higher state of existence. Bad people have to re-live the mortal life until they have learnt their lessons.

What is your favorite religious ritual (participating in or just observing)?

I don’t really have one. I think rituals are often pointless. It’s what you believe in and follow with your heart that determines how faithful you are.

Do you believe people are basically good?

Yes, I do. It is usually power and desire that make us cruel, so if we can learn to control these basic instincts, we can all be good people. In Buddhism, you cannot progress to the higher states without relinquishing the need for material things.
