I’ve been considering trying Aubrey Organics’ Calaguala Fern Leave-In Texturizing Treatment for a few months, to complement the matching shampoo I’ve been using. This is something Pure Skincare don’t currently stock, so I had a quick look around and found an eBay store exclusively selling Aubrey Organics products: iloveaubrey0rganics

They have quite a range and, even better, their prices are cheaper than retail! I was getting low on toner and shampoo I decided to order them too and, as I’d spent over £15, was entitled to a free bottle of Sparkling Mineral Water Complexion Mist. If I spent just over a pound more, I would qualify for free delivery too, so I topped up my order with a bottle of Aloe Vera.

I ordered on Saturday, the goods were sent out promptly on Monday and arrived early Tuesday. There were several samples included, a natural ingredients guide, a product guide and even a tote bag. All very well packaged in a cardboard box with lots of brown paper wrapping. I was expecting the products to perhaps be close to Use By date given the cheap prices, but none of them expire until 2009.

I really like the Complexion Mist too, so I may be ordering some more of that in future. I’ll give my mum the Rose Mosqueta samples and she’ll probably love those. :D

The store changes offers periodically, currently they’re giving away a soap bar when you spend £30 or more. I don’t think they’re doing free delivery at the moment, but I’m sure they’ll do it again at some point.

I’m so happy, my package from Anita Grant arrived this morning! I was a little worried as the status of my order still says Confirmed instead of Shipped, so it was a lovely surprise to hear the postman knocking on my door.

As mentioned in an earlier post, I bought a full-size bottle of the Camellia Copaiba Bath & Body Oil which is one of the large pump bottles you can see in the picture. The other is a Wheat Germ & Carrot Cleansing Oil which I’m intending to use for my oil cleansing regimen. The two smaller bottles are samples of the Camellia with Ylang-Ylang and Lavender (for my stretchmarks) and Watermelon Oil which I may also use as part of the oil cleansing process.

The block of what looks like marble is actually a shampoo bar – Kelp and Ylang-Ylang Babassu to be precise. Can you see a bit of a ylang-ylang theme here? :D It wasn’t intentional, but it is a favourite oil of mine. Finally, I have a Lemon Lippy Pucker, and delicious it is too.

I’ll no doubt be telling you all how I get on with them at some point in the future, so if you’re interested in these products then please check back over the next few weeks. Alternatively, if you have any direct questions, I’ll be happy to answer, just pop them in the comments area. :)

Ingredients: Organic rose water, Fairtrade African Black Soap (wildcrafted virgin palm oil and shea butter)

This is one amazingly versatile product with a myriad of uses. I can use it all over my body and it leaves my skin beautifully soft and clean. Smells fantastic too!

Initial Impressions: The product is presented in a simple, no frills pump bottle. After a couple of starter pumps, the soap eases out looking like melted chocolate and even has a slight chocolately aroma!

Application & Results: It lathers up very well and only a small amount is needed to clean a large area of skin. I mainly use it as a handwash, but also as an overall body wash and and a shaving soap. Despite the fact it contains shea butter, it does not leave any part of my body greasy. I have used it as a shampoo a couple of times, but it’s quite difficult to see how much I’m putting in – I end up using too much and it doesn’t rinse out very easily. Read the update at the bottom of this blog post to see what I mean.

Review Conclusion: I honestly couldn’t do without this simple little soap. I have tried several other products like it, but always come back to this one. I do love shea butter but most preparations, including the raw butter itself, are too greasy for me. This is the first time I’ve been able to use such a product without it exacerbating my oily skin.

After many months of struggling with severe dandruff, and after researching a plethora of different products, I finally settled on this unusual shampoo for oily hair and scalp. It’s currently my most valued and reliable hair-care product.

Initial Impressions: Aubrey Organics products are always very professionally presented and this is no exception. The bottle looks exactly like something you might find on any supermarket shelf, but without all the usual nasties inside. The shampoo itself is a slightly jelly-like substance in a deep brown colour which has a light, fresh aroma. I’ve used two bottles so far, the first one seemed slightly more watery, but it isn’t unusual for natural products to differ slightly between batches.

Application & Results: The shampoo is very easy to apply and lathers up pretty well. It doesn’t sink into the skin, so I have to massage it onto my scalp quite thoroughly then work on the hair itself. Once applied, I leave it on for a few minutes and rinse off.
When dry, my hair has a little bit of volume, which is a boon as it’s usually very limp and fine. It’s also quite soft and a little bit silky. There are a few tangles, but as long as I work them out quickly, it’s not a problem.
My scalp is relieved of the troublesome itching, but if I leave it longer than 24 hours between washes it sometimes comes back. This isn’t a negative point though as most shampoos leave me itchy within hours of washing. It tends to keep my dandruff reasonably at bay unless I have a flare-up.

Review Conclusion: This is *almost* the perfect shampoo, but I can only give it 4 hearts because it doesn’t keep my dandruff totally under control and that’s the Holy Grail for me. Otherwise, the mild ingredients really suit my sensitive scalp and dull hair, so this one is definitely a keeper! :D
