Ingredients: Organic almond oil, organic carrot oil, organic St. John’s wort oil, organic beeswax, organic shea nut butter, organic elderflowers, organic yarrow flowers with organic rose geranium & neroli essential oils.

This was very much an impulse buy, along with the matching toner which I am also reviewing today. I was researching moisturisers (always a dangerous thing to do) and fell in love with the ingredients. I was also excited to learn that it is suitable for those prone to oily skin and breakouts.

Initial Impressions: This is definitely a high quality product, no doubt about it. It comes in a thick glass jar, wrapped in a cardboard sheath. The smell is wonderful, all the ingredients come together beautifully to create a slightly spicy and exotic aroma. The cream itself looks like a very rich balm.

Application & Results: I was very unsure at first as the cream does feel very oily. It reminded me greatly of Akamuti’s Replenishing Rose Cream, which I could only use at night because it’s so heavy. I did want to use this as a day moisturiser, so I was a little disappointed, but I decided to trudge ahead and try anyway.
This really is a very concentrated product, only the tiniest amount is needed and it glides on easily. It does feel very nice to apply and after a bit of massage, it seems to soften the skin quite quickly. Unfortunately though, it does leave me a little greasy and shiny, especially on my forehead. I don’t like to waste things though (especially when they cost £25 per jar), so I have decided to alternate it with my Rose Cream just before bed.

Review Conclusion: This is a lovely product, but I doubt I will be buying it again. It is simply too rich for me and, apart from smelling gorgeous, doesn’t seem to offer any benefits to my skin. It’s also pretty expensive. Unless I see a clear reason to keep using it after the jar is finished, I’ll just stick to my Rose Cream.

Ingredients: rosewater, rosehip oil *, marshmallow oil *, borage oil *, sesame oil *, local beeswax, grapefruit seed extract *, rose essential oil.
* = Organic ingredients

I began using this cream back in November 2007. I’m a real sucker for rose and despite already using Akamuti’s Replenishing Rose cream, I wanted to give this a try. I was also tempted by the inclusion of borage oil, which has helped my acne in the past. I liked this product so much that it has now replaced the Akamuti cream altogether.

Initial Impressions: Well, firstly, it smells absolutely divine. The rose is definitely the dominant presence in the mix, but it’s not at all overpowering. The product itself is very pleasing to look at, mine was actually a lighter yellowish colour than the picture suggests. The little jar looks quite posh and has a dark tint so you can’t really see the product inside.

Application & Results: The cream is very easy to apply and has a light creamy texture. I prefer to use it as a night cream and let it work it’s magic while I sleep. It leaves my extremely oily skin ever so slightly greasy for a few minutes after use, but rose creams are generally marketed towards dry skin conditions, so this isn’t too surprising. I’m actually very impressed that it doesn’t leave my skin a lot greasier! I like to use rose because I’ve found it to be very helpful with clearing up blemishes, and this cream is no exception. Though it doesn’t seem to have had an effect on my acne, my blotchy patches have been greatly reduced and my skin is left feeling very soft. It only needs to be applied sparingly, so this little jar does go a long way – I’ve used it daily for 3 months and I’m just over halfway through.

Review Conclusion: Wholeheartedly recommended! The few ingredients make it wonderful for sensitive skin and it’s not too heavy for oily skins. Don’t be put off by the cost, it works out very good value for money.
