Routine

Currently, I am experiencing some stubborn inflammation on one cheek which I’m having to treat with a corticosteroid cream. I’ve reduced my routine to basic cleansing with a microfibre cloth and water and follow up with Aubrey Organics’ Natural Herbal Oil Balancing Moisturiser twice daily.

For haircare, I apply a vinegar & andiroba oil solution and then wash with Aubrey Organics’ Calaguala Fern shampoo.

I am also using an almond handwash by Ecosoapia for when I want to feel extra clean and Akamuti’s wonderful Liquid Black Soap for more general use. For bodywash I tend to use any of my rejected shampoos.

Bits and Bobs: Throughout the day, I use Anita Grant’s Lippy Pucker as a lip balm and Aubrey Organics Calendula Blossom Deodorant under my arms. If I fancy a bit of perfume, I use one of Akamuti’s Aromatic Roll-Ons.

Emergencies: I suffer from acne quite a lot, but sometimes I get really bad flare-ups or just a particularly nasty whitehead. In these cases, I have three lines of defense. If I know a flare-up is coming on, I use either Akamuti’s Green Clay & Rosewater Mask or Suki’s Transformative Facial Clay to detoxify my skin. When spots appear and I can’t resist the urge to pop them, I use Essential Care’s First Aid Repair Lotion for speedy healing.

I also get bright red blemishes around my follicles and these are difficult to treat. The most effective aids I have found (though not natural) are Calamine LotionLane’s Tea Tree & Eucalyptus Cream and Sudocrem.
