Ingredients: Cocoa Butter; Shea Butter; essential oils

This bar comes in three varieties and being a huge fan of rose, patchouli and ylang ylang, I decided to try out the Tantra blend. After reviewing it on Pure Skincare’s customer forum, Emily from Pure Nuff Stuff kindly sent me the Invigorating (Basil & Lemon) and Relaxing (Chamomile & Geranium) blends to try out as well.

Initial Impressions: The first thing I noticed about these bars is the smell – even before the packaging came off. In fact, the entire parcel with my other goodies in smelled of it too! The product itself looks like an oval soap bar and comes in pretty tissue wrapping. Once opened, it’s not the best packaging to re-use however, so I’d advise keeping a little soap-dish or tin handy instead.

Application & Results: The bars are best applied when warmed up a bit so the product melts into the skin on contact. The oils used are very sensual and make for a very exotic massage session. I’ve found they also work well as a perfume substitute – I just massage the bar onto pulse points and enjoy the lasting aroma. Although the smell is strong at first, it dissipates shortly after application and leaves behind a pleasant whiff instead.
Unfortunately, cocoa and shea butter are best suited to dryer skins, so I have to be careful how I apply this or I get very greasy. I use it on my arms if I’m wearing a short-sleeved or sleeveless top and on my back during a massage. Having such a high content of cocoa butter, I also like to apply it to stretchmarks after bathing.
Of the three fragrances on offer, I do prefer the Tantra blend the most. The Invigorating blend has a very masculine scent, so would suit fellas very well. The Relaxing blend was initially a little over-powering for me, but I’ve come to like it since.

Review Conclusion: This is a really nice product, it’s a shame my skin only allows it in moderation. Fortunately, only a little is needed to smell really good, so I still consider it to be a must-have item. Perks things up in the bedroom too! ;)
