Over the course of my adult life, I have struggled with problem skin, acne, blemishes and dandruff. In April 2007, I decided to switch to using natural skincare products after reading about the harm man-made chemicals can cause, particularly SLS/SLES and parabens.

I have now tried many products, some successful, others not. I have discovered that my skin is actually oily, not dry as I thought it was for many years (sounds strange, but explained here). I still suffer from quite a few problems (mainly acne) but the experience has been a positive one overall.

The aim of this site is to blog about the good and bad days my skin goes through and review the products I’ve tried. While several of the products are meant for use on dry skin, I imagine the information will be of most interest to those looking for oily skin solutions. Some of these dry skin products are actually suitable for such conditions too, so please don’t be put off.

Please be assured that there is no bias towards any company or brand in my reviews and I am not getting paid for them. I alone choose what is reviewed, and all posts are based solely on my own opinion, not influenced by anyone else. Except perhaps my husband, who has been known to borrow some of my products. I would however like to give a quick plug to the company I buy most of my products from - an online UK store called Pure Skincare. I like them because they offer a large range of products in one place, and the proprietors (Debbie and Pete) are really nice, friendly people. If you’re in the UK, do give them a look.

The reviews rating system:

Because everyone’s skin is different and conclusions should really be drawn on an individual basis, I have chosen to use a hearts system rather than the scale of one-to-five. This offers a more personal result over the traditional “good or bad” rating system. If I give a product a rating of one heart, it does not mean it is awful, just that I did not find it suitable for my skin and I will explain why in my conclusion.
